Shipping FAQs

How do we ensure quality
when shipping flowers?

1. All flowers grown on site, by us.

We grow all our own flowers.  That means that we are with them at every stage of the game, watching for pests, disease problems, or any symptoms of distress.  We know their history, and only send the best stems.

2. Overnight Shipping Only

In order to reduce the amount of time that the flowers are out of water, we only offer overnight shipping, ensuring a quick delivery and less stress on your blooms. While overnight shipping can be expensive, our agreement with FedEx through our membership with CalFlowers allows us to offer overnight regional shipping for only $19.99!

3. Flowers selected for shippability

Not all flowers are created equal-- and some are simply more suited to shipping than others.  Among the many flowers we grow, these are the flowers that you can expect us to offer for shipping throughout the season:

January = dried florals

February, March, April, May = tulips

June = peonies, lilies, sunflowers, callas

July = lilies, sunflowers, callas

August = lisianthus, lilies, sunflowers

September = lilies, sunflowers, callas

October = chrysanthemums

November  and December = dried florals

Other varieties of flowers (that might not do so well in a shipping situation), can be ordered for local delivery or pick-up, or purchased at in-person events and markets.

4. Strong, sustainable packaging + instructions

Our flowers are always thoroughly hydrated prior to shipping.  They are carefully wrapped and placed in a strong, compostable cardboard box.  The box is secured with our personalized, compostable paper tape.  Inside, you will also find an instruction card, indicating what you should do upon receiving your box of flowers.

What if my flowers look droopy upon arrival?

If your flowers look a little sad when they arrive-- don't fret.  Everyone needs to freshen up after a long trip!  When properly rehydrated, they will perk up nicely within a few hours.  Follow the directions on the enclosed instruction card and enjoy!

What is your shipping area?

Currently, we are able to ship to anywhere in Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Illinois for the overnight fee of $19.99.  If you live in another state, we may be able to offer shipping at a slightly higher rate.  In that case, please reach out to us directly and we will get back to you as soon as possible!  Shipping inquiries:  email traci@schellfarmgardens.com

What if the weather is not optimal for shipping?

There may be times of the year when the temperatures are either too cold or too hot for optimal shipping.  This is likely to occur mostly during extreme cold or extreme heat.  If you have ordered flowers and the conditions for your ship date are less than ideal, we will reach out to you to make arrangements.

Can I subscribe to monthly flower deliveries?

Yes!  When you place your order, simply check the box next to "subscribe." We will ship you a box of seasonal flowers every month, including only those flowers which we already know have a tendency to ship well.  This is what you can expect to receive each month of the year:

January = dried florals

February, March, April, May = tulips

June = peonies

July = lilies

August = lisianthus

September = calla lilies

October = chrysanthemums

November  and December = dried florals

You can cancel your subscription at any time.

What if my package gets delayed?

Once we drop your box of flowers off at the shipping office, many things are out of our control.  Delays and lost packages (though rare) are possible.  If you experience  something of this sort, please reach out immediately (email traci@schellfarmgardens.com)  and we will file a claim with FedEx on your behalf.  If your claim is recognized and your shipping charges refunded, we will pass that payment on to you.  For more information regarding specific shipping situations, please refer to our shipping policy
